Laketown General Plan—Final 2022 (pdf)

Building Department

  1. Contact the current Planning & Zoning (P&Z) Commission Chairman about your intent to build, they will be able to answer any question you have
  2. Submit the Laketown Building Permit Clearance Form to the P&Z chairman along with your building plans, permit from the Bear River Health Department for a septic tank(if needed), and P&Z may request additional information
  3. Your request will be placed on the agenda for the next Planning & Zoning Meeting
(you will need to be at this meeting or have someone there who can answer questions about your new build)
  4. The P&Z commission will review your clearance application and building plans and determine approval of:
    1. If Plans meet current zoning requirements
    2. road maintenance fee
    3. water connection fee
    4. water impact fee
    5. and any other applicable fees
  5. After approval by the P&Z Commission, the P&Z chairman will present your clearance application and plans at the following Town Council meeting. (you’re welcome to come to this meeting, but the P&Z chairman will present your application and plans to the town council)
  6. The Town Council will review your application, and either approve or deny it.
  7. Once your application has been approved by both P&Z and Town Council you may apply for a building permit
  8. The building permit link will be emailed to you after Town Council approval. (or can be found on the website – to come)
  9. Refer to the attached document for the building inspector permit instructions and required documents.
  10. Once the building inspector approves the building permit, the Laketown Clerk will calculate and finalize all the required fees.
    • All fees must be paid to the Town of Laketown, before a permit can be issued
  11. After all the associated fees are paid, the building permit will be issued, and you can begin construction.
  12. The building deposit will be returned once the occupancy permit is issued
